Winemaker Dinner with J Bookwalter Winery

North Idaho Wine Society’s Annual Winemaker Dinner with J Bookwalter Winery

North Idaho Wine Society is pleased to have J Bookwalter wines as its guest winery in May at the beautiful Hayden Lake Country Club. Experience the art of food and wine pairing, with each course developed by Executive Chef Deborah Ealantifex to complement a specific wine specially selected for this annual event. Ed Holmes, the J Bookwalter national sales director, will be providing information about each wine, plus sharing how Jerry Bookwalter helped to develop some of the state’s historic vineyards and how his son, John, has established top-tier winemaking practices using some of the states most desired vineyards that result in highly rated wines year after year.

NIES April Wine Tasting: Jackson Family Wines

As a multi-generational family winery, Jackson Family Wines has expanded their offerings significantly since they began as grape growers back in 1974. North Idaho Enological Society is excited to be sampling wines from other parts of the Jackson Family Wines portfolio, including wines from Oregon, Italy and parts beyond Napa in California, during their monthly wine tasting event, happening Friday, April 18, at Lake City Center in Coeur d’Alene. This should be a fascinating event, as those in attendance learn the story of how the winery went from making one award-winning Chardonnay to the vast set of wines they offer today. From 7 to 9pm, enjoy paired appetizers and mingle with fellow wine enthusiasts while learning more about the wines. You may also purchase wine at discounted pricing if you choose. NIES March Wine Tasting: Palencia Wines with Winemaker Victor Palencia

The North Idaho Wine Society’s March 2025 wine tasting will feature Washington winemaker Victor Palencia, who will be sharing his Palencia and Monarcha wines with event attendees. Trained at the Walla Walla Community College wine program, Victor has been an influential figure from the start and has been featured in The New York Times. He’s been recognized for his wines in Wine Enthusiast Magazine, The Seattle Times and Wine Press Northwest. Palencia Winery was also named the Pacific Northwest “Winery of the Year” in 2019.

North Idaho Enological Society’s February Wine Tasting: Wines from the Rhone Valley

North Idaho Enological Society (NIES) welcomes its members Ron and Sherri Theis, who will share stories and photos from their trip to the Rhone Valley during this month’s wine tasting event on Friday, February 21. Trevor Treller, sommelier and owner of Terroir Fine Wines, will discuss the Northern and Southern Rhone wines while you taste your way through the Rhone Valley. Wines, which will be paired with light appetizers, will be available for purchase at discounted pricing during the event. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the event starting at 7pm. Join the North Idaho Enological Society (NIES) on Friday, November 15, for their monthly wine tasting, with this month’s tasting exploring the wines of Oregon with Ridgecrest Wines, one of the founding members of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Held 7 to 9pm at Lake City Center (doors open at 6:30pm), guests will have the opportunity to sample a number of classic Oregon wines and discover what this area can offer paired with complementary appetizers. North Idaho Enological Society’s October 2024 Wine Tasting: Ackley Brands with Colleen Berard

Join North Idaho Enological Society at Lake City Center (1916 North Lakewood Drive in Coeur d’Alene) from 5 to 7pm on Friday, October 18, as they help welcome Colleen Berard, Northwest business manager with Ackley Brands. Founded in 2016 when the Ackley family purchased Montinore Estate, a leader in the world of Biodynamic® viticulture and sustainable winemaking (that had been producing wine in Oregon’s Willamette Valley for nearly four decades), Ackley Brands is committed to curating innovation, blending time-honored winemaking and brewing practices with modern creativity.

During the tasting, Colleen will be there to provide insight into the company and walk through a selection of wines from their portfolio.
