Presented by the Museum of North Idaho, walk amongst the dead and discover the rich tapestry of history and heritage on a walking tour of Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Nestled in the heart of the city, Forest Cemetery is more than just a resting place — it’s a living museum where history and nature converge. These guided tours offer an immersive journey through time, highlighting the stories of notable figures and local legends from the good to the bad to the ugly. Tours take place by flashlight at dusk (7 to 8:30pm) on Fridays and Saturdays and in the afternoon (1:30 to 3pm) on Sundays.

Five themes to choose from:

Notable Men 1 (September 20 and October 6): The early founders of North Idaho and local legends who helped shape our community into what it is today

Notable Men 2 (October 12 and 27): *NEW* with many names you’ll recognize today, these influential men helped pave the way for a modern society

Notable Women (September 22 and 28, and October 19): Men weren’t the only influential members of our community. These women defied norms and left their own mark, helping turn Coeur d’Alene into the thriving community it is today.

Murdered in Coeur d’Alene (September 21, 29, October 4, 18, 25): From unsolved murders to cases that left the assailants behind bars in the Old Pen, uncover the gruesome stories of the men and women who met an untimely end.

Rogues and Rebels (September 27, October 4, 20, 26, 31): These individuals found themselves on the wrong side of the law, but were they just rogues who were bad to their core or rebels who fought against unjust laws? You be the judge.

From The Editor

jillianMy name is Jillian, and I have been an editor and writer here in Coeur d’Alene since 2006, during which time I’ve had the opportunity to work for nine publications across North Idaho, into Spokane and as far as Gig Harbor, Washington. I am grateful to have the opportunity to now focus all my attention, energy and passion on my local community, finding and sharing heartfelt stories, spotlighting the incredible people, showcasing local businesses, organizations and nonprofits, and of course highlighting the many wonderful events our area has to offer.
