The Culinary Stone: Where Coeur d’Alene comes to sip, shop and savor
In the heart of Coeur d’Alene’s Riverstone lies a true culinary gem offering one-of-a-kind experiences — The Culinary Stone. Spanning over 5,500 square feet, The Culinary Stone welcomes neighbors, friends, and visitors into its beautifully inviting space. Here, guests can shop a wide variety of lifestyle products, from pots and pans, kitchen tools and small appliances to cutlery, tableware, linens, home décor and gourmet foods. The shop also offers a curated selection of bottled wine managed by their in-house sommelier, and their unique wine club, which boasts the only food and wine pairing club in the area.
A standout feature is their fun, energetic cooking classes, taught by local chefs, with classes held throughout the week year-round in their open kitchen.
Within The Culinary Stone is The Marketplace, where guests can enjoy locally brewed coffee, fresh pastries, specialty sandwiches, salads, seasonal soups and charcuterie plates, as well as premium sliced meats and cheeses. Wine and craft beer are available by the glass, as well as wine cocktails and mocktails, and canned beverages to go.
“The Culinary Stone is very dear to me and holds a special place in my heart,” shares Lesa LeBeau, who has taught culinary classes there for years and has taken on a bigger role not only as events manager of The Culinary Stone but more recently general manager of The Marketplace. “I’ve spent my professional career in the food and catering industry, and it was my love of cooking and teaching that drew me to The Culinary Stone. I’ve enjoyed taking on a more active role, bringing in chefs with a wide range of experiences to lead our cooking classes and introduce new menu options in The Marketplace.”
To add to The Culinary Stone’s truly unique experience, visitors can sip a glass of wine or craft beer while they shop, sit in on a cooking class or attend an event.
The Culinary Stone offers catering for any occasion, and their kitchen and Marketplace spaces are available for private events — from cooking classes and dinners to wine events, holiday parties and wedding rehearsals. The event team handles all the details, from food to décor and setups.
She and the staff are thrilled for the arrival of fall and have planned an array of seasonal events, including Paint & Sip classes, game nights, social club activities, wine pairing dinners, holiday celebrations, and hot cider by their outdoor fireplace. Their fall classes will showcase favorite seasonal dishes, easy tips for holiday cooking, and new recipes from local chefs.
“I find the most fulfillment in collaborating with our team to bring our visions to life and offering events our community can’t find anywhere else,” Lesa adds. “Our classes and events are designed for the people in our community, providing opportunities to gain culinary skills, share fun memories and celebrate all that the Pacific Northwest offers — from local musicians and artists to wine from the Columbia Valley and chefs from favorite area restaurants.”
The Culinary Stone will celebrate its 11th anniversary on Saturday, November 9. “We invite everyone to join us for a beautiful night to celebrate the 11 incredible years we’ve shared with our community and the friends we’ve made along the way,” Lesa smiles. The event will feature their annual holiday kick-off, transforming the store into a winter wonderland. From 4 to 7 pm, there will be live music, food, wine, special discounts, a wide selection of gifts, holiday décor and much more.
